Proposed night time taxi rank
Leicestershire County Council are proposing to introduce a night time taxi rank on Market Street, Ashby de la Zouch, which will operate on Friday and Saturday evenings from 22:00 to 03:00 hours and be located in the existing lay-by on the north side of Market Street.
Concerns over highway safety and local amenity have been raised with regard to the current provision of taxi ranks on Market Street, Ashby de la Zouch. It is thought that the current provision is not sufficient, nor suitably well located to serve the growing demand on a Friday and Saturday evening.
Ashby de la Zouch has an active night time economy and to improve highway safety and the overall experience of those visiting the town, it is recommended to introduce a dedicated taxi rank.
It is proposed that the scheme will start on Friday 8th May 2015. Further information on the scheme and an online feedback form can be found on Leicestershire County Council's website.
Annual Town (Parish) Meeting

All residents of the Parish of Ashby de la zouch are invited to attend to hear the Annual Report of the Town Council and its Committees. This is your opportunity to raise any matters of public concern and to discuss parish affairs.
Ashby Health Services
Residents of Ashby are invited to attend two drop-in events in March to give them an opportunity to meet commissioners and providers of health and social care. The events will be providing an insight into what local health services are available and how some of these will look in the future.
- The first event takes place at Ashby Library, North Street, Ashby, LE65 1HU, on the afternoon of Monday 16th March, from 1pm to 4pm.
- The second event takes place at Hood Park Leisure Centre, North Street, Ashby, LE65 1HS, on Wednesday 18th March from 6pm to 8pm.

A public meeting is being held at 7:30pm on Thursday 26th February at Ivanhoe College, Ashby regarding Ashby Hospital Services. You are invited to hear about the future of NHS services provided at Ashby Hospital. There are plans to move services to Coalville, Ibstock and various locations in Ashby.
Proposed residential development on land off Butt Lane in Woodville/Boundary
A public exhibition is being held at Woodville Methodist Church on Wednesday 25th February 2015 4 to 8pm. The event is organised by rg+p Ltd and further details can be found on their website.
Market Street Accident Reduction Scheme
Leicestershire County Council had been planning a local safety scheme on Market Street, Ashby. Following strong local opposition to the proposals the County Council has withdrawn the proposals. Before developing alternative proposals the County Council wishes to gain a better understanding of the concerns raised by local people. To assist with this the Council is supporting the development of a Neighbourhood Plan for Ashby, which includes consideration of transport issues.
Land at Woodcock Way, Ashby
Pegasus Group has been instructed by Miller Homes to produce a masterplan and prepare a planning application for up to 70 homes on land off Woodcock Way. Pegasus have a consultation website which provides more information about the planned development.
Prestop Park Farm Solar Farm Proposal
Sun Edison are looking submitting a planning application for a solar farm at Prestop Park Farm. The land is a 29 hectar site located between the village of Norris Hill and Ashby de la Zouch. The proposal includes the construction of rows of photovoltaic panels mounted on frames, at approximately 2.8 metres above ground level at their highest point. The proposal would also include perimeter fencing and security measures, hedgerow planting and landscaping works. The solar farm will remain in agricultural use as grassland for sheep farming.
Improving housing choices of older people in Ashby de la Zouch
McCarthy and Stone are proposing to redevelop the former County Council site on Kilwardby Street, Ashby. They are in early discussions with North West Leicestershire District Council about redeveloping the site with approximately 32 high qaulity Retirement Living Apartments for older people, professional landsacping and car parking.

Construction work on the replacement skate park at Hood Park, Ashby has been completed and the new skate park has opened.
Ashby de la Zouch Town Council has been successful in a funding bid to Sita Trust for a replacement Skate Park at Hood Park in Ashby. Sita Trust has chosen to support the project up to a maximum of £50,000. In adition funding has been secured from the Big Society Grant Fund (Leicestershire County Council) for £12,000 and £29,544.50 from the section 106 contribution from the Royal Mews Development on Station Road.

The Money Hill Consortium are proposing a development of housing and mixed use development at Money Hill. The Consortium is comprised of Bloor Homes, Taylor Wimpey and Cogent Land LLP.
Money Hill is located to the north of Nottingham Road and east of Smisby Road, and has been identified by North West Leicestershire District Council as a broad location for housing growth in the emerging Local Development Framework. New homes are proposed to help meet Ashby de la Zouch's future housing needs, along with a health centre, a primary school, employment provision, and areas of public open space and community use.
The Money Hill Consortium held a public exhibition at the end of November to talk with and get feedback from the local community on the proposals.
In January the Consortium submitted a planning application to North West Leicestershire District Council for phase 1 of the development, to include 130 new homes, a health centre and community faciliites. To enable the community to find out more about the plans a second drop in exhibition event is being held on Wednesday 23rd January 2013 from 4pm to 8pm. The venue is Ashby School, Nottingham Road, Ashby de la Zouch.
This application is just the first phase of the development of the site and the overall proposals include 605 new homes, a new primary school and Extra Care homes for the elderly. Plans for the next phase will be announced in the spring of 2013.
